Paige Williams writes for magazines and newspapers such as GQ, the New York TimesMen’s Journal, O: The Oprah Magazine, Salon.com, the Financial Times magazine, New YorkPlayboy, More, PINK, and The Oxford American, and her stories have appeared in anthologies including The Best American Magazine Writing and The Best American Crime Writing. She won the National Magazine Award for feature writing in 2008 and shared a nomination the following year for an Atlanta magazine project on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. She has taught journalism at universities including New York University, Emory, and the University of Mississippi; led advanced creative writing workshops in the honors writing and summer high school writing programs at Columbia University; and was the Robert Laxalt distinguished writer in residence at the University of Nevada Reno’s Reynolds School of Journalism. She has edited and deputy-edited magazines in Atlanta, Oregon, and Boston. Before becoming a magazine writer and editor, she worked in newspapers for 10 years, first in Mississippi and then at The Washington Post and The Charlotte Observer, where her stories won a number of prizes for investigative reporting and feature writing. She has an MFA in fiction from Columbia University and was a Nieman fellow at Harvard, where she is the Nieman Foundation for Journalism’s instructor of narrative nonfiction.
